Before you start to solve a problem, you need to know exactly what the problem is and should put a good amount of thinking and resources into understanding it. Finding the right problem to solve is far more important than solving a "wrong" problem really well.

At Openspace, Yiliang leads our data science team and advises portfolio companies on how to improve their AI and machine learning strategies to accelerate growth. He also plays an important role in assessing new opportunities from a data science perspective.

He has over 10 years' experience in managing and developing end-to-end machine learning projects from ideation to production. Previously, he was with Google as their J/APAC Machine Learning Practice Lead, where he oversaw the regional ML practice, ML pipelines and managed training/enablement programs/initiatives. He has worked with multinational industry leaders including Fast Retailing, Netmarble, AirAsia, AU Optronics and UOB on various machine learning projects.

Yiliang has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (1st Class Honours.)
